Olsen tacking the Jerex Race circuit

“Now back in the UK I have had time to reflect on the winters testing. Finishing the last round of the 2019 race season the bike was in a good place and we showed this with my pace in the final race of the season. Our initial plan for me was to introduce some new race parts, different engine specs and work through various setups with the new specs of engine and chassis updates. Unfortunately there was a small delay on some parts which meant we had to resort back to using some standard equipment for the initial tests in Monteblanco and Jerez. After the second test in Jerez we had a 2 day test scheduled at a little circuit in Spain called Guadix. The team worked hard to get a new engine delivered to the circuit which we worked with over the two day test. Overall the final test at Guadix went well and we made some steps forward and and felt we were heading in the right direction ahead of Round 1. Sadly the epidemic of the Covid-19 virus has really hit every sporting activity hard and caused the cancellation of the first round of the season at Silverstone. Im sure all riders, teams and sponsors are with me in saying the nations health comes first, and we all hope to be out there racing soon. I want to say a big thank you to all my sponsors sticking by me in this difficult time. Lets hope everyone can stay healthy and we can have some racing soon”. Alex Olsen – Smiths Racing BMW Team.
